Nor’Easter to Impact Area – Heavy Rain and Snow Possible

As the remnants of Hurricane Wilma combine with a developing nor'easter off
the east cost, Central New York will experience high winds, heavy rain and
the possibility of significant snowfall at elevations of 1,500 feet and
above through early Wednesday.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Central New
York, including Chenango County, through late Tuesday night. Rain will
continue over the area Tuesday with snow beginning to fall at higher
elevations. At elevations above 1,500 feet, over 7 inches of heavy wet snow
is possible. In the valleys, rain will continue to fall heavily at times,
with the possibility of snow mixing in later Tuesday. A Winter Storm
Warning may be issued Tuesday morning if the threat of significant snowfall
becomes more certain.

In addition, winds will pick up during the day at 10 to 20 mph with gusts
over 30 mph. The combination of heavy wet snow and gusty winds will lead to
the threat of power outages and downed trees.

The latest weather information is available on NOAA Weather Radio or online
at the National Weather Service Binghamton website:
